Huzzah! A new novel from Neal Stephenson!

Anathem by: Neal Stephenson

To be released on September 9th. I have no clue what it will be about, but I am excited to read it. Neal Stephenson is a great author and an interesting cat in general.

Possible plot?

  1. Haven’t enjoyed Neal’s recent work–big tomes that give every indication of needing a good, tight editing. But SNOWCRASH and DIAMOND AGE hold a special place on my bookshelves. Hopefully, his new one will be more of a return to form…

  2. Really? I have loved the character development and plot intricacy that he was able to do with the larger longer books! Either way I am stoked for the new book. Thanks for the comment!

  3. Just keep reading, Matt, that’s the main thing. I sincerely believe Stephenson’s a big-brained, talented guy, don’t get me wrong–I just think these huge books of his encourage his tendency to be, er, profligate with language. Sometimes another writer I like, Iain Banks, is guilty of the same thing. But that’s a discussion for another day…

  4. I will keep reading Cliff! I see what you are saying though. You have to have the patience to stick with a book or series of books when they take their time rambling and meandering and taking their time in developing. I guess you could say though that I am one of those people. I definitely have a predilection for intricate plots and dense language. I am going to check out your writing as well!
